Duties and Responsibilities of New Hampshire Teachers of Mathematics: President Elect & Past President
Ongoing |
Assume the duties of president in his or her absence. Attend four regularly scheduled board meetings throughout the school year and Spring conference. Oversee Regional Coordinators, maintain communication, assist in planning activities, review and make a report and/or recommendations at summer retreat. |

Summer |
Meet with current president to determine summer retreat date and plan agenda and receive overview of on-going NHTM projects and priorities.
Meet with regional coordinators to review previous year's activities, identify goals and plan potential upcoming school year professional development regional activities. Attend retreat for board members to plan activities for the coming year. |
September |
Make reservation at restaurant for May meeting and notify Board members at first Board meeting. |
October & November |
Chair the nominations committee for the election of board members as outlined in the by-laws of the organization. Call for board member nominations in November newsletter due 11/1. |
December |
Coordinate efforts to finalize bio on each candidate, disseminate via Mathesis, NHMATHED List serve, NH Math Teachers (NHTM) web site , and prepare on line voting ballot for membership with webmaster. |
January |
Ensure that election information is created on-line and e-mailed by January 15th (coordinate with Webmaster) and submitted for Mathesis. Submit Scholarship information for publication in Mathesis by 2/1 in conjunction w/post-secondary representative. |
February |
Serve on Balomenos selection committee. Disseminate NHTM Scholarship information to secondary and post-secondary schools. Review application information that is posted on web site, coordinate updates. |
March |
Verify and inform the president of election results which will be announced at General Meeting held at annual Spring Conference and/or Dinner Meeting. |
April |
Call committee meeting to review scholarship criteria and selection process. {Develop rubric}, work with post-secondary representative. |
May |
Scholarship applications are due 5/1. Committee reviews and selects scholarships recipients by May 15th. With post-secondary representative coordinate notification of recipients, prepare letter to principal and recipient, notify treasurer of recipients and coordinate communication between the treasurer and recipients for payment of awards. Notify Mathesis editor and provide information for publication in August Mathesis. |
